General
information
The Institutional Research of Geography began in
this country 1853, with the introduction of the subject of
Physical Geography at the Natural-Technical Section of the
Lycée. The present Faculty of Geography was established
in 1945, when it became independent of the Faculty of Natural
Sciences. Today, the Faculty has four institutes, eight departments
and offers 4 courses. There is a four-year course and during
the last decade, the Faculty has educated over 1,000 students.
At present, there are 1,200 students.

The Curriculum
The Faculty offers four courses, or study groups: Geography,
Spatial Planning, Demography, and Geospatial Bases of the
Environment, which undergraduate students choose at the beginning
of their first year. The period of study is four years, or
8 semesters. Students are obliged to attend to both the lectures
and practices in order to certify the semester or year.
Pre-examination tasks
As a pre-examination requisite, students must complete all
the following pre-examination obligations: passing partial
examinations, tests, seminar papers and completed graphic
works. Examinations are both written and oral and the total
number of between 27 and 36 depends upon the requirements
of the course taken in January, April, June, September, and
October. The conditions governing enrollment for the following
year are set down in accordance with the General Acts of the
Faculty. The examinations for the current year may only be
taken if; all the examinations from the previous year have
been passed. After the completion of their last examination
in the 4th year, students commence work on their thesis and
are required to complete a 12- month period of field work.
The fields are divided into 8 subjects: Physical Geography,
Social Geography, Regional Geography, Cartography and Aero-methods,
the Didactics and Methodology, Spatial Planning and Demography
and the Environment.
Tuition is held in three buildings: Studentski Trg 3/III and
16, and Vatroslava Jagica 5.
Study facilities and equipment
Two libraries contain a large selection of professional publications
(books, magazines, final studies, M.A. works and PhD works...)
and there are reading rooms.

General
information
The Faculty of Civil Engineering is one of the oldest,
educational, scientific institutions in our country. The origins
of the faculty date back to 1846, when an Engineering School
was founded by a Decree of Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic.
For many years it was part of The Faculty of Technical Science,
however, by 1958 the Faculty was again part of the University
of Belgrade. A Civil Engineering degree has been awarded to
10.091 students, amongst who are 481 Masters and 235 PhDs.
At present, there are 2.300 students. The duration of the
study period is 5 years. There are 170 professors and associate
professors at the Faculty.

The curriculum
Tuition at the faculty is organized within the Civil Engineering
and Geodesy departments. Basic studies last for 5 years (10
semesters), and the Faculty also organizes highly respected,
postgraduate studies. In their 3rd year of studies, students
choose an additional subject from amongst the following courses;
Construction, Hydrotechnics, Roads and Railways. The final
semester is reserved for the graduation assignment. The total
number of examinations, depending on the course, is 40, and
the majority of them are both written and oral. In addition,
some contain a practical element. Compulsory Attendance of
practices and lectures is required in order to certify the
semester or year.
Examinations
Examinations are set in: January, April, June, September and
October. The conditions governing enrollment for the following
year are set down in accordance with the General Acts of the
Faculty. There are also conditional examinations, which can
not be passed on to the next year of studies. During their
studies, the students must also complete their professional
practices. Professional excursions and visits to construction
sites are organized. The curriculum is divided amongst 8 tuition
departments or cathedras. Tuition is held in the amphitheatre
225 (2nd Floor), in the classrooms (1st Floor and part of
3rd Floor) and in 6 laboratories.
Study facilities and equipment
The Computer centre has two rooms: 322 and 126, each with
some 30 computers.
There is a library containing 38,000 items.

Student services
At the service desk, students may obtain all information regarding
studies, certificates, information regarding examinations
and submit applications for student credit or grants or halls
of residence.

A Student bookshop and a photocopying room are located in

An internet café with 12 computers is located in the
entrance hall.
Student organizations and associations
The Student Alliance and The Student Union are syndicated
organizations whose primary role is the promotion and protection
of the rights and interests of the students.
The Gradjevinac Student Sports Association.
A mini computer centre is free for individual students.
The Student Alliance of the Faculty of Civil Engineering is
the organizer of an event called Gradjevinijada, in addition
to many other cultural and entertainment events.

information
Soon after the opening of the Liceja in 1853, the
subject of Chemistry was added to the curriculum and lectures
and practice were held in the building of Konaka Knjeginje
Ljubice. In 1905, the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosphy
offered 15 different courses, one of which was Chemistry.
In 1947 Natural and Mathemathic studies became an independent
Faculty and in 1971 a department of Chemistry was opened at
the Faculty. In 1990 Chemistry became an independent Faculty
of Belgrade University. 3,200 students have since graduated
from the Faculty, including over 450 Masters and 240 Doctors,
There are currently 610 students studying at the Faculty and
83 professors and associate academic staff.

Curriculum
The fields of study at the Faculty are divided into 6 subjects:
Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Professors of Chemistry,
Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Practical Chemistry.
Students have the choice of three professions which are: Graduate
Chemist, Professor of Chemistry or Biochemist. In the fourth
year of study a Graduate Chemist may choose 1 of five different
specialist courses; Analytical, Inorganic, Organic, Practical
Chemistry and Enviromental Chemistry. The period of Basic
studies is between four and five years, 8 or 9 semesters,
depending on the course.
Pre-examination tasks
Students are obliged to attend all lectures and practice in
order to certify the semester or year, in addition a pre-examination
requisite is to provide proof of the attendance of seminars,
colloquium, professional practice, experiments and tests.
Examinations are in oral and written form and the total number
of between 29 and 33 depends on the course. The examinations
are held in: January, June, June 2, September and September
2. The conditions governing enrollment for the following year
are set down in accordance with the General Acts of the Faculty.
Some examinations may not be moved to the following years.
Study facilities and equipment
There is an extensive library which is situated on the first
floor. There is also a reading room.
The library works from 08.30-19.00 hrs
A computer centre, situated in the first level of the basement
is available to students for individual study.
There is also a student coffee club – VHA
Student Services
Offers information on all aspects of studies and accepts applications
for credit, stipendiary, student halls of residence and all
other administrative requirements.
Students associations and organizations
The Student Union of the faculty are syndicated with the other
student organizations who promote and protect the rights and
interests of students and represent them before the Faculty
authorities. The organizations also organizes an active cultural,
entertainment and sports life besides other activities.
