Computer Center of The University of Belgrade (CCUB) was
established in 1991 with an aim to offer computer services
to the academic community. As such, it has developed during
the time into central communication core of the Academic network
of Serbia and Montenegro, the largest computer network in
the country. Since it was set up, CCUB has been the role model
in new information and communication technologies application,
while the establishment of the first optic computer network
in the country in 1991 and the first computer networks gigabyte
connection among and within the cities in 2002 was realized
thanks to CCUB as well. In celebration of The University of
Belgrade Day, in 1996, CCUB established the first connection
with the world Internet in our country for the needs of Academic
network.
CCUB’s network nowadays involves more than 60 faculties of
The University of Belgrade, the University of Arts, scientific
research institutions, as well as University centers in Novi
Sad, Niš, Kragujevac and Podgorica.
Primary field of the work of CCUB is to develop, maintain
and improve Academic network. Hence, 24-hour a day activities
in Academic network are being monitored and possible discrepancies
improved.
CCUB is the center of regional CISCO academy, which coordinates
the work of 7 local CISCO academies in Serbia, Montenegro
and Serbian Republic. CCUB especially encourages scientific
research activities, while it has coordinated a number of
international research projects on behalf of our country.
In CCUB there are 2 servers to log on: student server Tesla
and teacher server Afrodita. Accounts can be opened at CCUB
office, at student personal request every working day from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To open an account you need to come in person
to the office of CCUB and bring ID, student card and complete
requested form. The account will be opened the next day. If
the account is not accessed within a month of the set up,
the account will be closed. An account can be accessed from
any PC connected to the academic network, either directly
or via modem.
When opening an account with CCUB, students get
free e-mail address of username@tesla.rcub.bg.ac.yu
format and 30 minute – long free access to Internet,
upon the expiration of which the line is cut and for
further work reconnection is required. Access numbers
for Tesla are +381 11 3370 667 and 3370 445, and for
Afrodita +381 11 3020 244. |
Apart from accounts, users may enjoy personal presentations.
Presently there are 600 personal presentations set up at Tesla
server and more than 10,000 accounts. CCUB has also set up
Internet presentation of Belgrade University at http://www.bg.ac.yu
CCUB is located in Kumanovska bb Street (in the basement
of business center Lola) opposite the University Library.
Working hours of the adminstrators and system engineers are
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Director of CCUB is prof. Zoran Jovanovic,
PhD.
